The iPhone Duo goes on sale in the UK on Friday 23 October, and if you did not get in on the first wave of pre-orders, Apple's UK store is now quoting late January 2027 for delivery. Here is where UK stock is likely to come from between now and Christmas, and what we would do to give ourselves the best chance.
UK prices
Apple's UK store lists the Duo SIM-free at these prices, and big retailers such as John Lewis have listed it at the same figures:
| Storage | UK price |
|---|---|
| 256GB | £1,999 |
| 512GB | £2,199 |
| 1TB | £2,599 |
| 2TB | £3,199 |
Both colours, Star White and Night Sky, cost the same. UK prices include VAT. Anything far above these figures is a reseller premium; anything far below them for a new phone should set off alarm bells.
Apple online: late January
Apple UK's online delivery estimate moved to late January within a day of pre-orders opening, in line with the US. That is the national delivery queue. Keep an order in it if you are sure you want a Duo, because it is the only guaranteed route.
Apple Store pickup: the best route before Christmas
There are nearly 40 Apple Stores across the UK, from Regent Street and Covent Garden in London to Manchester Arndale, the Trafford Centre, Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Trinity Leeds and Cribbs Causeway outside Bristol. Each one gets its own deliveries after launch, and pickup stock at one store has nothing to do with the January delivery queue.
Apple says to check back for pickup from Saturday 24 October. From then on, the trick is simply being there when a store shows a unit. Drops are small, a store might get a few of one configuration and none of the rest, and they tend to go within minutes.
A few UK-specific thoughts:
- London has a lot of stores close together. If you live or work in or near London, watch several. A Night Sky 512GB at Brent Cross is just as good as one at Regent Street.
- Out-of-town stores may be quieter. Stores in shopping centres outside the big city centres might see less competition than flagship stores. That is a hunch, not data, but it costs nothing to include one.
- A train ride can beat a three-month wait. If Manchester has stock and Liverpool does not, an hour on the train is a small price for a phone in November.
Networks and retailers
EE, O2, Vodafone and others sell the Duo on contract, and some networks offer it SIM-free too. Retailers such as John Lewis and Currys list it as well. They all get separate allocations, so their dates can be very different from Apple's. At the time of writing, UK coverage reported some networks quoting November delivery on certain configurations, while some retailer pre-orders had already sold out. These dates change daily, so check directly.
If you go the contract route, do the maths over the full term, including any upfront cost. A cheap-looking monthly price on a long contract is not always cheap.
Tips that genuinely help in the UK
Use the Apple Store app before work. Early morning is when we would look. Fewer people are awake and checking.
Stay signed in with your card saved. Pickup units do not wait while you find your wallet.
Be relaxed about colour. Two colours means double the stock that counts for you.
Think about 512GB. If everyone is chasing the 256GB model, a step up might get you a phone sooner. It is an extra £200, so only if it suits you.
Get an email when your store has stock. iPhone Duo Finder watches any UK Apple Store you pick and emails you as soon as we spot iPhone Duo pickup stock there. Alerts keep coming at every new drop until you turn them off. It is £5 per store for any Duo, or £10 per store for one exact model, storage and colour, and you pay through PayPal with a card or a PayPal account.
What we cannot promise
Nobody can tell you exactly when a given UK store will get Duo stock, or guarantee you one before Christmas. Apple does not publish delivery schedules and has said demand is "extraordinary". What we can say is that UK stores will keep receiving deliveries after launch, and people who are watching, flexible and quick are the ones who catch them.
