In-store pickup is often the quickest way to get a new iPhone at Apple's normal price. Here is how it works for the iPhone Duo, step by step.
What pickup is
When you buy on apple.com or in the Apple Store app, you can choose to collect from an Apple Store instead of having the phone delivered. If the store you pick has your configuration in stock, Apple shows a pickup date, sometimes the same day. You pay online, then collect in person.
Each Apple Store holds its own stock and receives regular deliveries. That is why pickup availability can appear at one store while another nearby has none, and why it changes through the day.
Step by step
- Choose your iPhone Duo. Pick storage (256GB, 512GB, 1TB or 2TB) and colour (Star White or Night Sky).
- Select "Pickup". Enter your postcode or ZIP. Apple lists nearby stores and when each can offer pickup.
- Pick a store with availability and continue to checkout. If no store shows availability, Apple may show "check back" or a later date.
- Pay. You can pay in full, use financing where available, or set up a trade-in.
- Wait for the ready notification. Apple emails you when your order is ready to collect.
- Collect. Bring photo ID and your order number. If someone else is collecting, you can usually add an alternative pickup person during checkout.

Why availability is so short-lived
When a store marks a configuration available, anyone looking at that store can reserve it. If it has received a handful of units, they can go within minutes. Checking at random times usually means missing it.
Improving your chances
- Pick two or three stores you could realistically reach.
- Check both colours if you do not mind which.
- Be signed in with payment details saved so checkout takes seconds.
- Use an alert. iPhone Duo Finder checks your chosen store's public pickup availability and emails you as soon as it shows stock. Choose £5 for any configuration or £10 for your exact storage and colour.

Pickup vs walking in
You can also walk into an Apple Store and ask. On busy days walk-in stock may be limited, and it is often already reserved for pickup orders. A confirmed pickup reservation saves a wasted trip.
