Black Friday falls on 27 November this year, with Cyber Monday on 30 November. Lots of people are wondering whether it is worth holding off on the iPhone Duo until then, either for a better price or because stock might have caught up. We think both hopes need managing.
Will Apple cut the price?
Almost certainly not. Apple very rarely cuts the price of an iPhone in the months after launch, and the Duo is its newest and most in-demand phone. In past years Apple's own Black Friday shopping events have offered gift cards with selected products rather than price cuts, and new iPhones have not been the focus. Apple has not announced anything for 2026, so treat any claim otherwise with suspicion.
On a phone where new orders are quoted for late January 2027, Apple has no reason to make it cheaper in November.
Carriers and retailers are different
Where you might see movement is with carriers and big retailers, but mostly as bill credits and trade-in offers tied to plans, not a lower sticker price. Some of these are already running. In the US, carriers launched with offers of up to $1,000 or more on the Duo when you add a line or trade in an eligible phone on certain plans. Black Friday versions may be similar or a little sweeter.
Before you chase one, add it up properly. A carrier credit spread over 36 months usually stops if you leave early, and the plan you need to qualify may cost more than the one you are on. The real question is total cost over the contract, not the headline number.
In the UK, the Duo is sold SIM-free by Apple and through networks and retailers. Big retailers often promote Black Friday pages early, and some already list the Duo on them, but a listing on a Black Friday page is not the same as a lower price. Check the actual number against Apple's: £1,999 for 256GB, £2,199 for 512GB, £2,599 for 1TB and £3,199 for 2TB.
Will stock be better by Black Friday?
Possibly a bit, but do not count on it. Nobody outside Apple knows how fast production is ramping. Apple has said demand is "extraordinary" and that it is working hard to get phones to people, which tells you it is behind, not when it will catch up.
What we can say is that by late November, Apple Stores will have had roughly five weeks of post-launch deliveries. Store pickup stock tends to come in small, irregular drops, and each drop is a chance. Black Friday itself is likely to be one of the busiest shopping days of the year, so expect more competition for whatever shows up, not less.
Do not wait for Black Friday to start looking
Our honest advice: if you want a Duo before Christmas, Black Friday is not a strategy. The weeks before it are just as valuable, possibly more so, because fewer people are hunting.
Pre-order now if you are sure. It locks in a place in the queue. If a better route comes up in November, you can make a decision about your order then.
Start watching store pickup from 24 October. Apple's pickup page says to check back from that date. Every week you are not watching is a week of drops you might miss.
Be flexible. Two colours and four storage sizes means eight separate targets. Accept two or three and your odds improve considerably.
Check the Apple Store app early in the morning, and keep your payment details saved so checkout takes seconds.
Let us do the watching. iPhone Duo Finder emails you as soon as we spot iPhone Duo pickup stock at your chosen Apple Store, and keeps emailing at each new drop until you turn it off. It is £5 per store for any Duo or £10 per store for one exact model, storage and colour, shown in your local currency and paid securely through PayPal.
What to watch out for in November
Black Friday is peak season for scams. Expect fake "Black Friday iPhone Duo" listings at prices that make no sense, social media ads for sites you have never heard of, and sellers asking you to pay by bank transfer. A brand-new Duo far below Apple's price in November is not a bargain, it is a warning sign. Our eBay buying guide covers the common tricks.
The bottom line
Do not hold off for a Black Friday price drop that is unlikely to happen on Apple's own store. If a carrier deal suits you, compare it carefully. And if what you really want is the phone itself, start hunting store pickup now rather than in late November. For more on why stock is so tight, see iPhone Duo sold out: what it really means.
